Although throughout wedding planning booking an engagement session seems like another thing to do, they are actually are more useful than you might think. The experience and the final product of your beautiful photos are meaningful and worth explaining to all brides-to-be. Here are my top 10 reasons to convince you that you definitely need one before your wedding day. I’ve also included some of my favorite shots from recent sessions to inspire you!
#1. It’s a great opportunity to get to know your photographer before the big day to build your trust in them. Which helps with your level of comfort, in front of the camera on your wedding day. More comfort = natural and candid looking photos!
#2. Most people are only engaged for 1-2 years. It’s a special time and will definitely fly by. It’s worth documenting this fleeting time in your lives.
#3. It’s another excuse to get all dolled up, walk hand in hand, hug, and whisper sweet nothings. Seems like a no-brainer to me! Set up a date night out afterwards to take your mind off wedding planning and make it a little more worth while.
#4. Re-visit your fave coffee shop or park where you first met. Take some engagement photos at your favorite spot and remember the memories you made there.
#5. Have some fun photos to use for your wedding details like the website, save-the-dates, slideshows, or to display at your reception venue.
#6. Get a guestbook made with all your engagement photos and then have your guests sign their names when they arrive at your wedding reception. The book will be a display piece in your home after the wedding!
#7. Practice makes perfect. The engagement session is a good time to practice and figure out your favorite poses to get you ready for the big day.
#8. Take a break from wedding planning without all the distractions. The engagement is just the two of you, so there’s no chance of being pulled in various directions like you may be on your wedding day. You can reconnect with your fiance in peace! And have the loving photos afterwards.
#9. Do your makeup and/or hair trial on the day of your engagement session so that you can see what your makeup artist can do and how well the makeup looks on camera. This will give you a much better idea of what your makeup will look like for your wedding photos. You can communicate with you makeup artist if adjustments are necessary.
#10. Alleviate some of the nerves of wondering how your wedding photos will turn out. Get your engagement session done a few months ahead and have some fun with your fiance before the big day!
Those are my 10 reasons! I hope they help you make your decision to book one asap!
